Bliss balls are simply my go-to snack whenever I require additional nutrients. Bliss balls are versatile and easy to make, easily creating any bliss ball one desires.
These Super Strawberry Sweet Treats will keep you feeling refreshed and invigorated on any Spring or Summers day! A great snack or delightfully crumbled over a fruit salad with a dollop of Greek yoghurt. Enjoy how you wish.
Goji berries – A fantastic source of fibre and high in antioxidants (which helps to improve the immune system and fights against free radicals in the body. Therefore helping ease inflammation). This bright, deep red, berry is termed a “superfood” due to its immeasurable nutritional value, which assists in combatting disease, enhances energy, improves digestion and weight maintenance.
Chia seeds – another popular and frequently used “superfood” which is high in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins and is a great source of protein, fibre and omega 3 fatty acids to incorporate into one’s diet. Some benefits of this black or white seed include; the appearance of healthy skin, promotion of a healthy digestive system, improves heart health, enhances energy and performance and aids in weight loss.
Strawberries – a fruit with a rich, red colour which are another jewel to the “superfood”cohort. Strawberries are high in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins such as vitamin C, manganese, potassium and folate (B9). These little fruits are also high in plant compounds which can assist with blood sugar control and promotion of a healthy heart.
Sunflower seeds – are a fabulously versatile snack or addition to any dish! These grey capsule like seeds, are bursting with antioxidants, nutrients (selenium, Vitamin E and magnesium), fibre and certain compounds which have been discovered to be associated with numerous health benefits, inclusive of; reduces the risk of heart disease, promotes healthy, glowing skin, balances blood sugar levels and supports the function of the thyroid. Interestingly, in Ayurvedic medicine, these gorgeous seeds are utilised for aiding digestion and bowel regularity. So get munching!
Enjoy eating these bliss balls! A wonderfully healthy summer treat to keep you feeling energised, vibrant and “super”!
– 2 tsp chia seeds
– 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
– 2 tsp vanilla essence / paste
– 1 cup of desiccated coconut
– 1/3 cup goji berries
– 1/2 – 1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries (or freeze dried strawberries)
– 1/4 cup filtered water
– Place all ingredients into a blender.
– Blend until all ingredients combine into a paste.
– Roll into desired sized balls and coat with coconut or sunflower seeds.
– Store and keep in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
